Just like your passion and purpose are unique to you so is your path. If you think about all of the people that have done something great the one thing that they all have in common is that they were not following in someone else's footsteps. Let's take a look at Elon Musk, for example, He has created and done some pretty amazing things. He has accomplished things that no one has done before. He is very unconventional and he does not let anyone tell him that it can't be done. He would have never accomplished that if he was following what someone else did.
No one has lived the life you have. No one has the same gifts and talents like you. You are unique so why do you think your path is going to look the same as anyone else's. Sure you should look at those that have gone before you and have accomplished it. You can look to them for advice and learn from their mistakes, but their path is not going to work exactly right for you, because you are not them.
Many of the greats would tell you that they were driven to do what they did because they were following their passion. So how do you discover this especially, if you have no idea what your passion or purpose is? You can do this by finding your path. O.K. just like everything else we have learned this is completely unique to you. This is where your body comes in. I am going to teach you a tool that you can use to find your path.
You can use your body like a GPS or, I like to call it your internal guidance system or IGS. You can tap into your body to see if what you are doing or the way you are doing it is right for you.
Give yourself some quiet time to answer and journal on the questions below.
1. Bring to mind something that makes you feel happy, now check in with your body.
Where do you feel it in your body?
How does it feel?
Could you describe it as expansive or freeing?
2. Now bring something to mind that you don't like.
Where do you feel it in your body?
How does it feel?
Could you describe it as contracted or tight?
You can apply that same thing to what you are doing or thinking about doing. If you bring that thing to mind how does it feel? If you are feeling expanded then that is what you should do, if you feel contracted then that means you are off track. This also works when you think you have gotten some guidance check-in and see, does that feel expanded or contracted? If it feels good then it is the guidance you should follow, if it feels contracted it is just that part of you that is trying to keep you safe from the unknown.
I think of this like the game Hot Cold. Remember a time when you were really excited about what you were doing. That is the feeling you want to follow just like in the game you are getting warmer. If you get that contracted feeling that is colder and you want to go a different direction. The more you follow the warmer trail the closer you will get to your own true and unique path. The only one that can determine this is you, you can't pick up the phone and ask your family or friends. This is how most of us have done it in the past but by following what they think that is where you are giving your power away to what they think is best for you to get their love and approval instead of following what is best for you. You can play the game and this can lead you to your passion, and your path, then which you end up living on purpose, and because of that you are adding your unique light to the world and you have no idea how that can touch someone else.
Tapping into your IGS takes practice and time. This is just like a muscle you have to strengthen it when you want it to work better for you and to do that you have to exercise it every day. So start small, use it when you are trying to decide what to eat or wear as you use it. It will strengthen and before you know it it will be guiding you, in your relationships, family, career to your passion, your purpose, and your path.
This sounds simple but it is not. We are not trained to live life like this, we have been taught to look outside ourselves to find what you are seeking, we have not been trained on how to look with-in and receive guidance and how to follow it. This is information that has been passed down to us for thousands of years but has been lost by living in a civilized society. I believe that this is what is meant to be the change you want to see in the world. By uncovering who you truly are and why you are here that is how we are going to change the world. This is a time when many are waking up to this truth and now it is your time. If you have stayed with the training this far you are ready and now is the time.
